The Ovens Natural Park

The Ovens Natural Park is one of my favourite places to visit (even though the entry fee is a little too steep in my opinion). Cost aside, it truly is magnificent. The Ovens got it's name from the natural sea caves along the coastline that people referred to as "the ovens". Not sure why they decided to call caves ovens but they did. There's a lot of history surrounding The Ovens - mainly to do with the gold rush in 1861. But enough about that. The best part about this trail in my opinion is the scenery!

One of the coolest things about this park is that they built staircases going down into some of the caves so you can explore!

The water next to the cliffs was a gorgeous blue/green colour. Absolutely stunning.

If for whatever reason you find yourself wanting to visit Nova Scotia please be sure to add this to your list of destinations! You will not be disappointed! Unless of course you have a fear of heights, cliffs or questionable concrete staircases- then I would skip this one.

Q. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A SEA CAVE?

Bell Park | Mount Uniacke, N.S

It's finally Summer!! For those of you who have followed this blog for a while you probably know what that means....PARK POSTS! For those who don't know, last Summer I started a personal challenge- to visit every Provincial Park in Nova Scotia.

Now, technically I don't think Bell Park is classed as a Provincial Park for some reason but I'm going to go ahead and stick it with the Provincial Park posts anyway.

Bell Park is just your average park. A nice trail through the forest, a lake to stare at and that's about it. All in all though it was still a beautiful, sunny day and we had a wonderful walk. Excuse the photo quality. I only had Craig's phone handy to take pictures with!

Q. HOW IS THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER TREATING YOU SO FAR?

Blogging in Someone Else's Home

Am I the only one who finds it incredibly awkward blogging in someone else's home? Especially when no one in 'said' home even knows about your blog?

As I've mentioned before we're currently staying at my mother's place until we save a bit of money and no one (aside from Craig) knows that I blog. And I'd like to keep it that way for now but it makes blogging a little difficult. Especially since my computer broke and I need to use my brother's. I was really thinking after the move and having a computer to work with, my blogging mojo would come back full force and I'd have new content out every few days.

But that's not the case.

Finding the time to sit and write a post isn't easy when you only have certain windows of opportunity when nobody else is home. It's doubly hard when you have a toddler to take care of and more often than not, your window of opportunity slips on by because you're busy doing something else. Lux is currently napping which is how I'm getting this post up. Of course I can wait for nap time everyday and write a post but I don't want every post to be like this one. This feels rushed and I don't like it. I don't even know if I'm making any sense.

This is just my long winded way of saying sorry I've been so slack! I want to blog. I want to post great content. I want to sit and read other blogs. I want to love blogging again.

I can only try my best for right now.

Thank you to anyone who has stuck around with me and those who still stop by to read what I DO post lately. I've noticed I've already lost a few followers recently so that makes me appreciate the ones who stick around that much more :)

Until next time I hope you all have a wonderful, magical day <3

Lux's 1st Birthday

June 1st was such a fun, special day.

Lux woke up at exactly 6:15 that morning so we counted down the five minutes to 6:20 - the time she arrived exactly one year ago. At 6:20 I sang her happy birthday and I may have cried. Okay, I did cry... it just brought me back to her birth and made me realize we did it. We made it a whole year together! One whole amazing, hard, life will never be the same (in a good way) year.

For her first birthday we didn't have a "party". I mean, she's one. She won't even remember this birthday. But we did decorate, have family over and eat lots of cake. Well...I ate lots of cake.

In case it isn't obvious enough, we went with a Finding Dory theme! If I'm being truthful I think it was more for me than for her. I've been obsessed with Dory lately! She's so cute!

As is tradition, once the candles are blown out on the cake, the birthday girl gets to dig her tiny hands into the cake and try a piece for the very first time..

And so she did.

This is where the fun began. We've always known Lux had an issue with dairy but she was never full blown exposed to it before. What little bit she has had would cause a little digestive upset and not much else. Most icings I've dealt with are dairy free so I didn't think her cake would bother her too much. However, once I tasted the cake myself I came to realize the entire thing was made of whipped cream. No icing at all. To make a long story short she broke out in hives and was up majority of the night crying.

Aside from that though I think she had a fantastic first birthday! She received lots of nice gifts and even got her first skateboard...

Of course it'll be a while before she's totally ready for it but check out that balance already! She's so awesome :)

It was a day for the books that's for sure :)

Hope you enjoyed a little glimpse of Lux's first birthday!
