October Blogger of the Month | RAWR BOWS

Hey guys!

I'm so excited to introduce LAL's first blogger of the month RAWR BOWS! Ariadna runs this beauty of a blog and I thought it might be nice to get to know her a little bit and see what her blog is all about...

+ TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BLOG.

Hey everyone! I am Ariadna and I am a London based lifestyle blogger (check out my blog: RAWR BOWS). Even though I now live in London, I am from Spain and that’s where I lived when I started blogging. I decided to create my blog out of boredom and because I loved fashion and beauty. My blog has changed quite a bit through the years - what started as a mainly beauty and fashion blog has now become more of a lifestyle blog. I would describe myself as quite basic… you know - PSLs, ripped jeans, everything marble, etc. Jk, I swear I am somewhat cool and interesting.

+ WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START BLOGGING?

Zoella. I used to love her, her videos and her blog. I thought what she was doing was so cool and since I had always loved writing I decided a blog was perfect for me. I also thought it would be great to practice my writing in English and to get to know some cool people - which I did. I was in my senior year of high school when I started blogging and, even though I didn't have much free time, I wanted to have a hobby that would give me a break from school.

+ THREE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOUR BLOG BEST.

Relatable, honest, girly

+ WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR BLOGGING WISE?

Meeting some amazing people. I have met some lovely gals through my blog and some of them are now my best friends. It’s weird to think that if it wasn’t for that decision I would have never met them!

+ WHAT TYPE OF POSTS DO YOU ENJOY WRITING THE MOST?

Travel posts. Unfortunately I don’t write them more than a few times a year as my bank account and my uni lectures don’t let me travel too often. But whenever I get to visit a new place I always write at least one post about it. I love exploring new cities and towns, and photographing new buildings and environments. If I had the money and time I would definitley travel much more and share my adventures online!

+ NAME TWO OF YOUR FAVOURITE BLOGS THAT YOU FOLLOW.

I love Thirteen Thoughts, Paula is such a lovely gal and her photography is so amazing!
Another of my favourite bloggers is Sara Bacereido whose blog is Closet’s Wings, she’s a Spanish YouTuber and blogger and I absolutely adore her style!

+ FAVOURITE POST YOU'VE WRITTEN THIS PAST MONTH AND WHY?

It definitely has to be “If Harry Potter had been set in 2016”. I came up with this idea on September, 1st when my Twitter feed was flooded with Harry Potter tweets. I have always loved the series and I thought it would be funny to write a story about Harry Potter using Instagram and stuff.

It turned out to be super fun to write and I might do some similar posts in the future!

+ ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO START THEIR OWN BLOG?

I’d say don’t do it for the money or for the freebies, do it because you enjoy doing it. If you have fun blogging your readers will feel it and they will be more likely to go back to your blog! Also, interact with other bloggers either by replying to comments they leave on your posts or by commenting on theirs, that’s how I’ve met some of my best friends!

Thank so much Ariadna for being our first blogger of the month! Please make sure you check out her blog RAWR BOWS!

Squashtastic 2016

A couple of weeks ago we were searching for fun, fall related activities and we found Squashtastic out in Wileville. We didn't really know what to expect but we were in the area anyway so we decided to check it out.

Turns out it was just a local Farmer's Market that had a few squash sculptures around the building. Although it technically wasn't an event we still had a fantastic time and got a really good deal on a bunch of pumpkins and squash! We also bought a chunk of the world's b e s t skor fudge! Ugh. SO good.

Even though there wasn't a whole lot going on, we definitely want to go back again next year! The sculptures were pretty impressive and that skor fudge is calling my name.

The Scarecrow Festival

The Scarecrow Festival is an annual festival held in the cutest town in all of Nova Scotia (in my opinion). Mahone Bay is the most picturesque place I've ever been and its actually a goal of mine to live here one day (real estate is a little on the pricey side). Putting my dreams aside, Mahone Bay always has something going on.

During the scarecrow festival, residents and business owners go all out and decorate the entire town with scarecrows! It's pretty amazing.

We spent a good two hours just walking around the main streets and the back roads, daydreaming about living there. We ventured into a couple of different shops and I got the most delicious peanut butter smore cookie from a cute little cafe. Note to self: find recipe for peanut butter smore cookies.

QOTD

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO A FESTIVAL LIKE THIS BEFORE?

The Spooky Tag Part 2

And were back with the second half of the spooky tag. If you haven't read part one be sure to do that by clicking here.

On with the spookiness!

You're home alone but you hear footsteps in your house. What do you do?
Make my way to the nearest exit. No investigating for this girl!

If you got trapped in one scary movie, which would you choose?
Probably Halloween because Michael Meyers never runs so I feel that I would have a pretty good chance at getting away or maybe Chucky. I might be able to take on a doll.

If you could only wear one Halloween costume for the rest of your life what would you be?
Something cool..
Like an alien!

Would you ever go to a graveyard at night?
Definitely not alone.

In a zombie apocalypse what is your weapon of choice?
A sword for sure.
A long one so I don't have to get too close.

Would you rather go to a Halloween party or trick or treating?
Trick or Treating!
I'm not much of a partier plus..
candy will always win.

You're in a horror movie. Are you: The final girl, the first to die, the comic relief, the smart one or the killer?
I'd like to think I would be the smart one just because I have watched my fair share of horror movies in my time and I'm always so irritated when the characters do something stupid like walking outside when someone knocks on the door but no ones there, yelling out who's there? giiiiiirl shut the door and be quiet!!

Do you ever have to watch something happy after a scary movie so you can go to sleep?
Only sometimes if I was truly scared and just happen to be alone.

While watching scary movies are you the person who yells at the characters, the person who covers their eyes or the one who falls asleep?
I never yell at the characters but I'm definitely the one who's like omg why did they do that!?

Are you the one who gets scared or the one who does the scaring?
Oh I do the scaring!
You don't want to turn the corner while i'm around.

Favorite scary book?
There's a book I read a while ago that actually freaked me out but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it.

How old were you when you saw your first horror movie?
I'm not kidding. Chucky was the first movie I saw because my mom has always been a huge horror fan and we just used to watch the movies with her.

What was your first Halloween costume?
I believe it was a cat.

What are you going to be for this Halloween?
I'm not sure yet. I'll probably just be lame this year and only wear this pumpkin headband thing because Lux is going as a little pumpkin.

If you could have a spooky Halloween pet, what would you pick?
Oh a wolf for sure!

I hope you guys enjoyed this two part tag!

QOTD:
IF YOU WERE TRAPPED IN A SCARY MOVIE WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

Wonderful Wednesday # 3

I've been feeling pretty low this past week so it was a little difficult coming up with a few wonderful bits to share. There's always some good to be found though...

♥ I  REACHED 500 FOLLOWERS ON BLOGLOVIN'
Reaching 500 followers has been a personal goal of mine for a while. It's not all about the numbers for me but I always thought that once I reach 500, that would be enough. And it is. Anything I get from here on out will just be an added bonus. So i'm pretty happy about that :)

♥ BABY HAIRS
Okay, this might seem a little strange. I've always had a receding hairline (something I've unfortunately passed down to Lux). I've always hated wearing my hair back and have always struggled with making sure I had the correct amount of "bang" hair to cover my hairline. Well, I've recently noticed that I now have tiny little baby hairs growing in where the bald looking spots are! They're still kind of light but you can totally see that the receding-ness (?) is covered in. Its so bizarre but I definitely accept this new change!

♥ GIFT CARD - PAY IT FORWARD
On Sunday I was having a pretty crappy day and while on our way home from a drive I told Craig I would like a slice of pizza. So we stopped at the pizza place but they didn't have any pizza ready at that moment. There's a bakery across the street that I've always wanted to go into. Every time we pass by it I would say "I really want to go in there". For no particular reason really. I just like bakeries. So this day Craig said why not go in? So I did. On my way in I didn't notice that there was a lady right behind me and I let the door slam in her face. I apologized as soon as I noticed and she said it was okay. I then let that same lady go ahead of me in line because I was still looking and she was clearly finished gathering what she wanted. I ended up not finding anything there so I headed over to a store attached to the bakery to pick up a snack. While I was looking at chocolate bars that same woman came into the store and walked up to me. She handed me a gift card with $100 on it and said she wanted me to have it. She chooses random people to give these cards to and all I have to do is pay it forward. Which I totally intend to do. It couldn't have come at a better time and I was, and still am, completely grateful for it.

♥ POP FREE
A while back now, I wrote a post saying that I'm going to try and lose weight. Its not exactly going as planned but I have completely stopped drinking pop (soda) for three and a half weeks now and I feel really good about it. I don't think I've lost any weight because of it but I definitely notice some bloating has gone away. Baby Steps!

TELL ME SOMETHING WONDERFUL ABOUT YOUR WEEK!

The Spooky Tag Part 1

This tag was 30 questions long and I thought that was a little too long of a post so I'm dividing the questions up into two posts. Enjoy part 1!

Favorite horror or Halloween themed song?
The only song that pops into my head is This is Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas so I guess that one!

Name something you wouldn't want to run into in a dark forest or an abandoned building.
Like anything!! Lol
If I see any sort of figure or creature hanging out in the middle of a dark forest or abandoned building you can bet that i'll be running the other way!

Have you ever played with a ouija board?
Never. And I don't intend to.

Favorite horror monster or villain?
Freddy Krueger will always hold a special place in my heart.

The creepiest thing that's ever happened while you were alone.
I used to have these dreams about a woman who used to inch closer and closer to me while I was asleep until one night she was directly above me and I couldn't move. Technically I wasn't alone as Craig was sleeping right next to me but since I felt like I couldn't move or scream I felt pretty much alone. I actually wrote a post on that experience. You can check it out here.

If you were dared to spend a night in a haunted house would you do it?
Only if I had someone- or maybe a few people!- with me.

Are you superstitious?
Very! Another post I wrote regarding superstitions can be found here! (get those links in girl!)

Do you ever see figures in your peripheral vision?
I always think I see something out of the corner of my eye but I don't think its really anything.

Which urban legend scares you the most?
The killer in the backseat one always kind of freaked me out.

Do you prefer gore or thrillers?
Thrillers mainly but I do enjoy the odd gorey movie!

Do you believe in multiple dimensions or worlds?
Yes I think I do.

Ever make a potion of any sort?
If mud and glitter count, then yes.

Do you get scared easily?
Not easily, no.
I love being scared. I get such a rush when something actually does scare me..

Have you ever played Bloody Mary?
Nope

Do you believe in demons or the devil?
No, I don't think so.
Whenever I watch a scary movie about demons and stuff I always think well maybe it could be real?
But its not something I think about too much.

That's it for part 1! Be sure to look out for part 2 soon...

WHO'S YOUR FAVE HORROR MONSTER OR VILLAIN?

8 Must Watch Movies Every Halloween

If I had to choose a favourite category for movies, Halloween movies would win every time. The kids Halloween movies I fell in love with as a child to be more precise. I still love and watch these movies every year in the fall and today I'm going to share my top 8 must watch Halloween-y movies!

HALLOWEENTOWN & HALLOWEENTOWN II KALABAR'S REVENGE
No Halloween is complete without watching Halloweentown! Halloweentown came out in 1998 and I'm quite certain I've watched it every year since then. Halloweentown 2 is just as wonderful as the first in my opinion and shouldn't be left out of this list! I've always-and still do-wish I could live in Halloweentown.

THE ADDAMS FAMILY & ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES
Ahh, my love runs deep for the Addams Family. This creepy, kooky family is what my Halloween dreams are made of. If you haven't seen these movies, please do! Even if its not Halloween. Fun Fact: My sister and I loved The Addams Family so much as kids we begged my mom to name my little brother Pubert (that's the baby's name in Addams Family Values). Obviously she wouldn't name him Pubert but we tried.

CASPER & CORPSE BRIDE
Every time I watch Casper I feel like a kid again. I love how certain movies can do that. Its such a great movie and perfect for getting you in the Halloween spirit. Corpse Bride is probably one of my favourite Tim Burton movies. Everything Tim Burton creates should be in a must watch Halloween movie list!

HOCUS POCUS & BEETLEJUICE
I don't think I've met a single person who hasn't seen Hocus Pocus and loved it. It's like t h e Halloween movie! Man I miss the 90s!! And last but certainly not least... Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!! A fantastic movie. There were rumours about a second Beetlejuice being made but as of right now its not happening. Too bad! I bet it would be great.

So there you have it! Eight of my favourite, must watch movies for Halloween.

WHAT IS YOUR MUST WATCH MOVIE EVERY HALLOWEEN?

Daiya Greek Yogurt | Vegan

O k a y

I know a whole post revolving around yogurt seems a little strange but I just had to talk about this one. I'm not vegan but I am dairy sensitive so finding delicious alternatives to the foods I love is sometimes hard.

I am a huge yogurt lover but alas, yogurt does not love me.

I have tried every single dairy free yogurt available at my local grocery stores and to say I hated them is an understatement. None of them even came close to tasting like real yogurt.

I spotted this one last week while we were grocery shopping and honestly, I was just going to pass right by because I can't say I've really liked any of the Daiya products I've tried previously. And it was also $2.50 for one single cup which to me is too expensive.

I grabbed it and threw it in the shopping cart though. Willing to give it a try.

O h  m y  g o d

I am SO glad I did.

To me, it tasted exactly like normal greek yogurt. It was thick and creamy and OH so delicious with chunks of strawberry throughout. I threw some chocolate chips on top and I completely devoured it.

I had this first thing in the morning and I ended up not even needing anything else after it because I actually felt full and satisfied.

So if you are vegan or just can't do dairy like me- for sure give this a shot!

They are a little on the pricey side but I'll definitely be picking this up again for a snack.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE DAIYA PRODUCTS?

Four Months Old

Oh my girl is getting SO big!! Four months has just flown by and she's learning so many new things. I love it. Let's just jump right into the updates!

S H E  C A N  G R A B  A N D  H O L D  O N  T O  T H I N G S  N O W
This month she has learned how to grab on to objects and keep hold of them. She has such a strong grip. Especially when she gets a hold of my hair!

H E R  F E E T  A R E  A L W A Y S  C L A M M Y!
Lux's feet get SO clammy! Socks on, socks off- it doesn't  matter. There was once a little wet mark on her swing where her feet were touching! I looked it up and apparently its normal for their feet to sweat that much at her age. It'll stop once she is more active and starts sweating from other places.

S H E  H A D  H E R  F I R S T  O V E R N I G H T  A L O N E
Me and Lux have stayed over at my moms plenty of times together but this month she stayed over there all by herself for a night! It was nice to have a small break but I couldn't wait to have her back home!

S H E  H A S  S T A R T E D  E A T I N G  C E R E A L
Around 3 1/2 months we introduced rice cereal to her. She's a little picky when it comes to eating it though. Some days she seems to really like it, other days she wants nothing to do with it! I mostly just want to get her used to eating with a spoon. I think she's still a little confused by it :)

S H E ' S  N O W  I N  S I Z E  3  D I A P E R S
I feel like she's growing out of diapers so quickly! She's already over 16 pounds! She's growing so fast.

That's all I really have for updates on Lux! I hope you enjoyed reading and seeing a few photos from throughout her 4th month :)

Choosing A Colour Scheme For Your Blog Design

Long time readers of this blog know all too well how often I change the design. What can I say? I love coming up with new looks and quite frankly, I just get bored so darn quick.

I'm definitely no professional when it comes to blog design but I can't see me paying $50 for a pre-made template from pipdig when I know I'm going to become bored with it shortly after and want a new design. If you're anything like me, maybe you'll find these posts helpful!

One of the best tips I can give when it comes to designing your own blog is to choose a colour scheme that works. I've seen so many blogs where the colours just do not mesh well. It really takes the whole look of your blog away and having a nice colour scheme will make your blog look ten times better.

I wanted to share with you a website I found a little while ago that has 100 colour combinations already put together. There are some amazing combinations to choose from.

Side note- this isn't a sponsored post or anything. I stumbled upon this page while looking for colour combinations myself one day.

This is where I've actually found my current colour scheme.

So #FFCCBB Sunrise is used for my header, the dotted line under my post titles and in my archive list. #6EB5C0 Blue Topaz is used for the tabs at the top of my blog, links, post titles and the 'washi tape' sidebar images. #006C84 Cerulean was used in my header also and for the post dates and finally #E2E8E4 Icicle was only used as the hover colour over my links.

It's actually tons of fun searching through colour combos and creating your design around them.

Here are a few of my faves from the site...

Aren't they pretty!? You can find the website by clicking here. I know I'll be keeping this page handy because you all know I'll be changing it up again at some point!

QOTD

WHICH COLOUR COMBO DO YOU LIKE BEST?

Wonderful Wednesday # 2

Another week, another bunch of lovely bits to share with you all. I'm quite enjoying these Wonderful Wednesday posts!

 NETFLIX OBSESSIONS
There are so many good shows on Netflix at the moment I feel overwhelmed for choice! I am currently watching and  l o v i n g  Drop Dead Diva! I just started it like 2 weeks ago and I'm already at the end of season 2. I've also been binge watching Gilmore Girls <3 I'm trying to get through them all before the new episodes come out in November.

♥ CRIB SLEEPING
For the past 3 nights Lux has been sleeping in her crib and she's doing awesome! I really thought the transition from our bed to her crib would be a tough one but honestly, once she falls asleep, she's good for the night. While I initially missed having her next to me while I slept, it feels so good to finally be able to stretch out again.

♥ DAIYA YOGURT
All I'm going to say is DELICIOUS. I've never had a dairy free yogurt that I actually liked until I tried this stuff. It was so good in fact I decided it deserved a post of its own.....coming soon.

♥ FREE FURNITURE
Gotta love finding just what you're looking for online for FREE and in your area! I always peruse the Kijiji website looking for any furniture pieces I might be needing and I was desperately searching for a dresser for Lux's room. I just so happened to click on and there it was. A big, solid wood dresser / change table!! For free. Like five minutes away from me. Jackpot! It needs to be re-painted big time but I'm excited to start this project.

♥ TO-DO LISTS
For the past week or so I've been writing up a to-do list every morning to ensure that I stay productive during the day. When you're a stay at home mom its so easy to do nothing with your days besides take care of your baby. I was getting restless and felt like my day had no purpose other than to feed, change and play with Lux. Since writing to-do lists I feel so much better and it feels so great to achieve the things I've set out for myself to accomplish.

TELL ME SOMETHING WONDERFUL ABOUT YOUR WEEK!

Fall Bucket List

It really feels that way in the Fall doesn't it? Strange. Seeing as Spring is when new life actually starts to grow again and Fall is basically everything dying. Must be all of that crisp, fresh air.

I think this quote rings so true for most people because everyone seems to get so excited for Fall. I know I do. I always try to do as many Fall related things as possible before the snow and months of being trapped in the house come along. Eventbrite has an awesome GOMO (Getting out more often) project on the go and what better way to make sure I get out more often this fall than to write up a fall bucket list! Here we go!

FALL BUCKET LIST

1. G O  T O  A  C O R N  M A Z E
Corn mazes are so much fun and a great way to spend a couple of hours outside trying to find your way out! Last year we went to a corn maze while visiting in Cape Breton and we had to solve puzzles throughout it. It was awesome.

2. G O  A P P L E  P I C K I N G  A T  A N  O R C H A R D
I've never done this but I have wanted to for soo long. Definitely going to make my way to an orchard soon.

3. H I K E  C A P E  S P L I T  W H E N  A L L  O F  T H E  L E A V E S  C H A N G E
Cape Split is a trail that supposedly takes four or five hours to complete! The view is apparently breathtaking though and I imagine it'll be even more beautiful with all of the leaves changing colour.

4. W A T C H  A L L  O F  M Y  F A V O U R I T E  H A L L O W E E N  M O V I E S
Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown 1 and 2! Eeek! Makes me so excited thinking about them.

5. G O  O N  A  W A G O N  R I D E
We did this a couple of years ago during the Fall and I loved it. I've wanted to go again ever since. I think this will be the year.

6. D R I V E  A R O U N D  A N D  S E E  A L L  O F  T H E  D E C O R A T E D  H O U S E S
Halloween decorations are just the best! We might head up to Mahone Bay and see all of the decorated houses. Apparently they go all out!

7. V I S I T  A  P U M P K I N  P A T C H
A must do every Fall. Running around the field searching for the perfect pumpkin is too fun.

8. C A R V E  A  P U M P K I N
Well we can't get pumpkins and not expect to carve them!

9. T A K E  F A L L / H A L L O W E E N  P H O T O S  O F  L U X
I have some cute ideas for photos of Lux!

10. B A K E  P U M P K I N  N U T E L L A  M U F F I N S
Because LOOK at these. Because NUTELLA. Heck Yes.

I think it'll be a pretty great Fall this year if I manage to complete these! As you probably noticed most of the things on my list involve actually getting out and doing things. Eventbrite's project to squash FOMO (fear of missing out) and getting into the habit of GOMO (getting out more often) is definitely something I can get behind! You can check out their website here. You can find all sorts of events happening in your area and you can even plan your own GOMO event using their planning tools.
