The Perks of Pregnancy

Becoming pregnant truly is a wonderful thing. The idea of growing a little human inside you is pretty crazy. Its true that most times, with pregnancy, you are dealt a pretty crappy deal. Morning sickness, stretch marks, exhaustion, etc. But aside from that, there are often some pretty awesome perks to being pregnant which I'm going to share with you today!

+ YOU GET HUGE BOOBS
Seriously, those things pop quicker than the blink of an eye. Yes they are going to feel incredibly sore in the beginning but hey, now your boobs look great in pretty much any shirt you wear! And people will comment on them all the time.

+ MOOD SWINGS ARE TOLERATED MORE
Say goodbye to feeling guilty after having a mini (or major) meltdown for no apparent reason. After all it's just hormones..

+ YOUR HAIR LOOKS BETTER
Due to the extra estrogen your body produces while you're pregnant it prolongs your normal growth phase resulting in less shedding and thicker looking hair. Unfortunately you may also see some extra hair growth in some other strange places...but we won't go there.

+ YOU HAVE A LEGIT EXCUSE TO SLEEP THE DAY AWAY
Growing a human is exhausting! No one will question your new sleeping patterns.

+ CRAVINGS RULE ALL
Care to eat that whole jar of pickles? Pregnancy cravings mean eating an entire carton of ice cream is totally justified.

+ NO PERIODS FOR NINE WHOLE MONTHS
#dididieandgotoheaven?

+ BEING TREATED LIKE A DELICATE LITTLE FLOWER
Strenuous activity, heavy lifting at work - I think not! All of a sudden you're a princess and everyone actually wants to do things for you.

+ LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE FACT THAT YOU AND YOUR PARTNER CREATED A LIFE
Feeling your baby move inside your belly everyday is incredible. To me it still feels surreal every time I think about it. And seeing the excitement on your partners face the first time they feel the baby move is just the sweetest thing in the world.

There are probably a ton more perks to being pregnant but i'll just stick with those eight! Let me know of any down in the comments that I forgot to mention!

February Beauty Box 5

Another month, another Beauty Box 5. I think I'm only going to be receiving two more boxes after this and then my subscription is finished. I'm not really sad about it though, I think i'm kind of over BB5. I have a huge box filled with products I haven't even thought twice about using. Anyway, here's what we got this month:

+ ELIZABETH MOTT THANK ME LATER EYE SHADOW PRIMER
I've actually heard this is a good brand but I honestly couldn't tell you. I never wear eyeshadow so i'll probably end up giving this to my sister. The packaging is definitely cute.

+ HEMP NATION KIWI-MANGO BODY WASH
This smells so, so good! They say this is full size but there's no way it is. Anyway, I think i'll be testing this one out tonight!

+ EPIC BLEND PREMIUM LIP BALM
Definitely the thing I am most excited for!! I was so happy when I saw there was a lip balm in this months box. My lips were in desperate need of a new lip balm. This smells like blueberries and I love it.

+ MANNA KADAR 3 IN 1 SHADOW, HIGHLIGHT & BLUSH
This is in the shade Fantasy. Its a super pretty rose gold color and even though I don't wear eyeshadow I think i'll try this out as a blush!

+ STARLOOKS CUSTOM LIP LINER
In the shade Sultry Sangria. A really pretty mauve shade Starlooks created for BB5 for their 4th birthday.

Pretty good month. Overall I'd say the lip balm was the biggest hit out of this box and then the body wash. If you're subscribed to BB5 let me know if you were happy with this months box!

The 'If I Could' Tag

I found this tag over on Kerri's blog and since its been a while since I've done a tag I thought why not! Everyone loves a good tag, right?

+ IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE
I would just stay here in N.S! I would most definitely be moving further out into the countryside though. Far enough to get away from everything but not too far that I couldn't take a little drive and be somewhat close to the city. I would also LOVE to live right next to the ocean. It's alright if I don't though because driving a short distance in basically any direction in Nova Scotia will take you to water.

+ IF I COULD HAVE ANY HOME
I'm always dreaming about my future home haha SO HERE GOES- It needs to be big but not huge. I just want spacious rooms inside. I like a square shaped house best with maybe a few nooks and crannies. 3 bedrooms definitely maybe a fourth for a guest room. I would love my own library with books lining every single wall and skylights so the room is always bright and cheerful. A formal dining room is a must! I just love homes that have separate dining rooms. Ahh, some day i'll have my home.

+ IF I COULD HAVE ANY GARDEN
All the fruits and veggies! According to Craig we are most definitely going to be having a garden regardless of where we live so I guess I have to learn how to grow food! As for flowers, lillies everywhere!

+ IF I COULD BE ON HOLIDAY RIGHT NOW
Oh my goodness I have been dreaming of Fiji lately!! Never been there, never had any interest in going there before but I don't know. The other day Fiji just popped into my head and I looked at pictures of it and now I can't stop thinking about it. Take me please.

+ IF I COULD HAVE ANY JOB
I just want my own business. I don't care what I would be doing exactly as long as I loved it.

+ IF I COULD HAVE ANY TALENT
I would love to know how to take nicer photos.

+ IF I COULD LIVE ANY DAY AGAIN
This is a tough one. I honestly don't think I'd ever be able to choose which day to live over again. I wonder, if I were to live another day again, would I know I was living it again? Like would I be conscious of it? Would I mess it up if I didn't do everything exactly the same? Hmm..

Let me know in the comments where you would live if you could live anywhere at all!

New Looks All Around

So last Friday I decided to be brave and cut my hair to my shoulders!! I really felt like I needed something new and fresh as my hair felt and looked pretty dry and dead no matter what I tried doing to it. I think the last time I actually cut my hair to my shoulders was way back when I was 14? Like 12 years ago! Anyway, I am totally loving it and it feels so lightweight on my head.

I fully intend to let my hair grow super long next but we'll see. I just might change my mind and keep cutting it this length for a while!

The next thing that received a makeover is my blog! I know, again? Yes! I've been using pre-made templates for a little bit now but I was getting kind of tired of not being able to customize anything with the ones I was using. So I went ahead and designed it myself. It took a very long time learning how to add all of these different html and css codes but I'm quite happy with the way it turned out! It may not be super professional looking but it makes me feel proud knowing that I achieved this design all on my own! I may do a few posts showing you easy ways to achieve custom looks for your blog.

Anyway, cheers to new looks! I have a dresser sitting in my kitchen awaiting its new look right now so i'm going to go work on that! Hope you all have a wonderful day xx

My Valentine's Day

I just love Valentine's Day. I think it's awesome to have a special day dedicated to the ones you love. My day was not filled with presents and romance but we did everything I had planned out for the day and it was wonderful. Here's what our day looked like..

First we started off our day with a beautiful snowy hike! It was absolutely freezing outside and my legs felt like they were going turn into icicles and break but I loved it.

With legs that felt frost bitten, a nice hot bubble bath and a good book were calling my name. Once I finished with my bath we started making supper - delicious fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce. We decided to eat in the living room while watching an episode of The X-Files.

Next we made some Valentine's cookies! Some of my favorite fast and easy cookies to buy are the Pillsbury sugar cookies. I love getting the holiday themed ones- so cute!

Next was a good old game of Disney Monopoly! We had so much fun playing this (even though I lost badly!)

The rest of the night was spent hanging out and reading. A perfect day in my eyes! Let me know how your Valentine's Day went!

Maybelline Color Show Street Art in Pink Splatter

I am loving this nail polish at the moment! The 'shade' (if you will) is called Pink Splatter. I'm not entirely sure why because it clearly has no pink in it, it's just black and white specks. I know a lot of people use polishes like this over another color but i'm totally digging the specks just over my natural nail!

DO YOU EVER WEAR A 'TOP COAT' ON ITS OWN OR DO YOU ALWAYS APPLY IT OVER ANOTHER COLOR?

BODIPURE Keratin Gloves | Review

Last week I posted about my January Beauty Box 5 and said that I had lost two products from the box- the keratin gloves and a nail polish. Wouldn't you know it, I found the two things stuck between the cushion of my chair! Yay me. Today I wanted to give my hands some lovin' so I thought this would be the perfect time to test out the keratin gloves.

So what these gloves claim to do is strengthen the nails and nourish the skin while also softening the cuticles and preparing your nails for polish application. An all-in-one hand treatment.

This is what they look like. The first thing you notice is the smell. Its not bad exactly. Its just really strong and definitely smells like a 'treatment' if you know what I mean. To give you a better idea, to me it smells almost EXACTLY like the little conditioner treatment you get with a home hair dying kit. Kind of strange but not too bad.

The directions tell you to put the gloves on and massage the nails and hands thoroughly. It also tells you to leave the gloves on for a while.

Well, I left them on for about 10 minutes and needed to take them off. My hands started burning. At first I thought well, it can't be doing anything too bad so I left it alone but as the burning persisted I slid part of the glove off one hand and noticed I was getting a rash. Off the gloves went! I immediately went to the bathroom and washed my hands. Soon after the palms of my hands started burning and this stayed for about an hour.

Now I do have sensitive skin but I don't think that's supposed to happen!

I have to give this product a rating of 0 out of 5. They were of absolute no benefit to me and left me rashy and burning.

You can try these out for yourself if you like, but if you have sensitive skin I suggest staying away from this product!

HAVE YOU EVER TRIED KERATIN GLOVES BEFORE?

Sometimes I Wish Makeup Never Existed

Sometimes I have days where I just feel...ew. It doesn't happen too often thankfully because I think I would probably be severely depressed on a daily basis if that were the case. But I did have one of those days yesterday. All day I just felt ugly. Feels like such a harsh word to use but its true. I felt ugly. It was one of those days where work had been cancelled because of a snow storm so I didn't have to get ready for the day. I just lounged around and cleaned the apartment. It wasn't until Craig asked me to go for a drive with him that I gave myself a good look in the mirror and thought- ugh, I look terrible. At this time I started feeling pretty bad about myself. That was all it took. One look in the mirror at my naked face.

This really got me thinking about how easily it is to feel terrible about yourself. One look. One day. And I feel sad that like myself, there are so many other girls out there who feel the same way. Maybe they feel like this everyday.

I've decided that makeup plays a huge role in this. I now associate my bare, natural face with something that's far from perfect because i'm so used to having makeup on it making it look a little better. That I don't think I should even step into a store without makeup on because someone is going to look at me with disgust because I'm showing my natural look.

The funny thing is, I barely wear makeup. I wear a light foundation that usually looks like i'm not wearing anything. I just like having something on to even out my skin tone. Then i'll use a little concealer to try and hide my under eye circles (which have been a little worse lately since i've become slightly anaemic thanks to this pregnancy). But other than that I wear a little blush and thats it. Yet I feel naked without that little bit of product.

I think we all would have been better off without the invention of makeup. We never would have seen how our skin "could look" with a layer of foundation covering our imperfections. Heck, we probably wouldn't even consider them imperfections if society hadn't deemed it so. Everyone and their grandmother would have darkness around their eyes. You would never know how luscious your eyelashes could become with a little - or a lot of- mascara. We would just go about our days feeling content with the way we looked because that's as good as it would get!

*sigh* Unfortunately that's not the way the world is. I'll probably always feel a little better and more "put together" with a little makeup on but that doesn't mean I shouldn't work on loving myself more. I think I need to go out into the world more with nothing on my face and learn to accept it and be okay with it. And for anyone else who feels like me from time to time, I think you should too! To start off my new journey of self appreciation, i'm going to be brave and post a photo of me au naturel. & i'm okay with it :)

New Blog Roll!

For a while now I've had a 'favorites' page showing a few of my favorite bloggers. I've realized that I read a ton more blogs than I was featuring in my 'favorites' and I thought why not just list them all! So up there ^ in the tabs menu I now have a page called 'blog roll' which shows all of the blogs I follow and keep up with regularly!

I was thinking of maybe doing a 'blogger spotlight' type of deal every couple of weeks or so featuring my favorite blog that week. It's always great to see people showing some blogger love and I especially love reading those kinds of posts because it gives me a chance to find some new amazing blogs to follow!

So yeah, give that link a click up there if you're in the mood to find some great blogs to read! Also, leave me your links in the comments or even some of your favorite bloggers so I can check them out :)

Hope you all have a wonderful day x

Pregnancy Diary | 6 Month Update!

Woohoo! 6 months down, only 3 short months left to go! I found this pregnancy tag/update that i'll probably do once a month from now until I give birth.

How far along? 24 weeks exactly

Maternity Clothes? Not yet!! I'm really hoping I can get away without buying any but its not very likely haha

Stretch Marks? Nothing on the belly yet *fingers crossed* but unfortunately I did get some on my boobs already.

Sleep? Not too bad. I read you aren't supposed to lay on your back as you get bigger because it can be dangerous for you and baby but my god its hard not to roll onto it!! I'm woken at least once a night by Craig rolling me back onto my side.

Best Moment This Week? There was one day this week that the baby was just moving like crazy all day long! I haven't felt them move so much!

Miss Anything? Yes, sleeping on my belly!

Movement? All the time now. But its not quite strong enough for Craig to feel it yet. I cannot wait for that day!

Food Cravings? Not lately, no. I found I had tons of weird cravings in the beginning but not so much now. The very first thing I craved just before finding out I was pregnant was ranch dressing. Other cravings included reese peanut butter cups, pickles, fruit loops, etc.

Anything Make You Queasy or Sick? I was queasy the entire first trimester. The thought of any food made me sick. I'm good now though :)

Gender? We're keeping it a surprise. Let me tell ya though, its not easy! I want to know so badly some days haha

Labour Signs? Oh jeeze no! Little ways to go before I have to worry about that yet.

Symptoms? Really tired some days. My tailbone has also been acting up on me.

Belly Button In or Out? In! I wonder if it'll stay in?

Happy or Moody Most Of The Time? I'd say its an equal amount. I can't really blame pregnancy for that though as i've always been a little on the moody side :)

Looking Forward To? Just the baby finally getting here! I can't wait to just see them and hold them. Find out what gender they are and what they look like. So exciting!!

Flashback Friday #42 | My Last Flashback Friday Post!!

Yes, the title is correct! This will be the very last post in my Flashback Friday series! The reason for this is because I don't have very many old photos left to keep writing up new posts about them. So for the very last flashback post I will be featuring photos all the way back from May of 2013 up until August of 2014. The reason i'm stopping at August of 2014 is because I started this here blog in September of 2014 and I've pretty much posted everything on here from that point on! So let's get started, I've got a whole mash of photos to get through!

MAY 2013

We visited a beautiful beach this day. I believe it was called McCormacks Beach? I have no idea. But I remember it being very cold there!

JULY 2013

OCTOBER 2013

FEBRUARY 2014

MAY 2014

AUGUST 2014

Whew! That's it! Sorry for the photo overload but I just wanted to get them all in this one post. I truly enjoyed these flashback friday posts over the last year and a half and I hope you guys enjoyed them as well! You can click the 'flashback friday' label under this post if you'd like to look back on the other 41 posts!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
