What's Best For Me...

....but what if I don't know what that is?

I'm at a point in my life where everything feels surreal.

For months now i've been feeling.....strange? weird? different?

I feel like my life is moving a million miles a minute but at the same time, no where at all.

I have so many things I need to do, want to do, but it feels like I can't accomplish anything.

I have all these stresses and worries in my life and its like I can't help myself move past them.

Some days are good. Really good.

Other days I feel like I don't know myself at all.

I just want to feel like myself again.

How am I supposed to know what's best for me?

What if I don't have an answer?

The mind is a confusing thing.

Sorry for that jumble of ramble.  I've had a lot of feelings lately and i've been wanting to share those feelings on my blog but that's the best I can do. Maybe because I want my blog to be a place full of happy, positive things or maybe its because I really don't know how to talk about it. Who knows. What I do know is that I have a lot of changes happening in my life that I will share with you sometime in the future. Not now. But soon.

Do you ever feel this way?

When Dealing With Brands....(Post Sponsorships, etc)

Hey there! This is a post i've been wanting to get into for a while now. One of the most exciting things that comes along with starting your own blog is logging into your email account and noticing you have an email from some company that wants to work with you!
Now I know i've only been around for a little over a year and I may not have the most knowledge when it comes to working with brands but I thought I would share a few pieces of advice with you regarding my own experiences. So here we go...

01- YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY YES TO EVERY COMPANY THAT CONTACTS YOU

I know its tempting, its exciting, you don't want to say no to someone who seems interested in working with you. But you also never want to become that blogger. The one who only seems to write up sponsored posts. Your blog will only become less appealing to readers. Especially if you're writing about things even you're not interested in. Which leads me to number 2...

02- CHOOSE COMPANIES THAT REFLECT YOU/YOUR BLOG

Choose what you write about based on your interests. If someone wants you to write about their website make sure you take the time to check out that website before saying yes to see if its something you're actually interested in. I've turned down several sponsors over the last year because their products just didn't fit me and my blog. (Example: I was contacted by a hair extension company once to bring readers to their website and talk about how awesome their extensions were. I turned them down because 1) my hair was already very long at the time, extensions were totally unnecessary 2) i've never even used extensions before and honestly, never will and 3) seeing as i've never actually used their extensions before I wouldn't be able to give a completely honest review.) Which goes into number 3...

03- GIVE HONEST REVIEWS ABOUT THE PRODUCTS YOU'RE POSTING ABOUT

Since someone is paying you- either in money or product- to write a review on them, you sort of feel like you have to give a good review about them. Well, you don't. If you don't like something, say it. I always let companies know before I even agree to a sponsored post that my review will be 100% honest. That is always one of my conditions. Look at it this way, you can disappoint some company you'll never hear from again OR you can write a bogus review on a product that misleads all of your followers into thinking its amazing. Your choice.

04- DON'T LET COMPANIES BULLY YOU

This happens more often than you might think. Some companies will contact you, ask you to review their website or products and expect you to do this for free. Some try being sneaky like this one company I was contacted by- they wanted me to come up with my own recipe or something like that, post about their website within my recipe post, link to their social media (basically give them free advertisement) and then I might win the chance for my recipe to be posted on their website. Tons of companies try to look for bloggers to give them free advertising. I mean if thats what you want to do then thats fine. Some may think accepting money or products from a brand is wrong but its really not. Not when you need to take the time out of your day to first come up with a post idea, but it can take upwards of an hour or more to even write a post. And besides that, what advertising companies do you know that do free advertising? None. That's all sponsored posts are. Advertising for said company.

So like I said, I don't have a ton of knowledge about working with brands but I do hope this advice was at least a little helpful to you?

Have you had any bad experiences while working with brands before? Let me know in the comments!

Beautiful Nutrition Lemon Rinse Review

I received this lemon rinse in my September BB5.
I was so excited to try it out!

Its supposed to be a clarifying treatment that you use after you shampoo and condition.

WHAT IT CLAIMS

-Adds shine
-Seals cuticles
-Maintains healthy scalp
-Prevents frizz
-Seals in moisture

The only reason I was super excited to try this out was because of the preventing frizz factor.
I've tried numerous products over the years trying to combat this frizzy head of mine and nothing ever seems to work.

Unfortunately, it seems I will be adding this to the list of fails...

Now, I decided to be brave and use this product last night and leave my hair air dry on its own and see how it looked the morning after and then take a picture for you guys...

You ready for this?

Not horrible, exactly.

But there's still some major frizz going on!
& it only looked worse once I combed it out.

And just to let you know, this wasn't a one time thing.
I've actually used the product 3 times before this just to make sure I gave it a chance.

Goodbye lemon rinse.

At least you smelled good.

My Fall Bucket List!

The first day of fall has arrived! I won't even bother telling you how much I love fall because it seems like fall is everyone's favorite season huh? Well no wonder! Its the coziest, most crispiest(?) season of all! This year I thought it would be fun to do up a little Fall Bucket List and maybe share a post with each thing I tick off my list!

I believe the first day of winter is December 22nd so I have until then to complete my list!

WHAT'S ON YOUR FALL BUCKET LIST?

York Redoubt | Halifax N.S

York Redoubt is a Parks Canada National Historic Site. It was constructed in 1793 just as war broke out between Britain and France. Now its a spot where people can see the old barracks and canons.

Today we went to the other end of York Redoubt. I haven't seen this end before. Its a long path through the woods that ultimately ends at a rather large barrack site.

Its wonderful and a little creepy all at once.

Abandoned staircases scattered along the path..

I love going places like this. So much history here.

Oh, and we came across this little gem as we were leaving..

We decided we were not up for exploring that one haha

DO YOU HAVE ANYWHERE LIKE THIS WHERE YOU LIVE? WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT HISTORICAL SITES?

The REAL Reasons I'm Excited For Autumn

You've probably read on just about every blog how excited everyone is for Fall- I know I have.
I've noticed i've been reading the same old stuff though. People can't wait for cozy sweaters, pumpkin spiced lattes, the leaves changing, etc etc. And of course i'm excited for all of that too...but-
Let's be honest. Here's five REAL reasons i'm excited for fall...

001. I CAN GO 2 WEEKS WITHOUT SHAVING MY LEGS
Hallelujah.
Do you know how much I despise shaving!? My legs are terrible. No matter what I use they get razor burn EVERY. TIME.

002. NO MORE SWEATING WHILE I SLEEP
How about just no more sweat in general?
But really, I get HOT while I sleep.

003. MY HAIR WILL LOOK NORMAL AGAIN
Goodbye muggy, humid days that turn my hair into a gigantic frizz ball! I will not be missing you.

004. GETTING READY WON'T MAKE ME CRANKY
This pretty much goes along with the whole sweating thing.
I get warm enough blow drying my hair on a regular day throughout the year but when its extremely hot out and I need to blow dry & straighten. Look out.
Its safe to say I can count on one hand how many times I've actually straightened my hair this summer.

005. I CAN GO INTO THE FOREST AGAIN
I LOVE the forest. Its one of my favorite places to explore.
Did you know I haven't stepped foot into ONE forest this entire summer!?
None, Zero, Zilch, Nada.
Want to know why!?
Friggin Ticks.
UGH
I'm generally not afraid of bugs but ticks...no thank you!
This year was really bad for them.

So there it is.

My real reasons for being excited for the fall.

LET ME KNOW WHY YOU'RE EXCITED FOR THE FALL!

Flashback Friday #37

Been a while since my last Flashback Friday post. For this Friday I've got some pictures from August of 2012. We went to a town called Mahone Bay for the day. There was a pirate festival going on. After that we went to Lunenburg and visited Blue Rocks.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

The Hair Of My Dreams

Sometimes I get serious hair envy...
That shouldn't come as a shock really. Not when I have to deal with my mane on a daily.

Think: big, pouffy, frizzy, thick yet "fine", hair. Now times whatever you're thinking about by 10 and you've got my hair.

I'm not saying I don't like my hair. I really do! Its just that sometimes I kind of wish I had that effortless, grab a shower and head out the door and my hair still looks fabulous kind of hair.

If only I had the power to change my hair any way I wanted everyday...

Ugh. I need to learn how to do my hair better.

I wish I were more open to trying new things. I would never be brave enough to dye my hair blue and purple like the photo above. I've tried bangs once....ONCE.

I think for now i'll just work on growing my hair out again.

Tell me, what are your favorite styles? Do you ever have hair envy like me?

BEAUTY BOX 5 | Fall: On Fleek

I am becoming more and more impressed with each months Beauty Box 5. I think this one has been my favorite so far!

ELIZABETH MOTT TINTS & SASS LIP + CHEEK STAIN

This looks interesting. I've never used a lip and cheek stain before. I'll definitely try it out on my lips but i'm not so sure about putting it on my cheeks. Its pure liquid and I feel like i'd just end up making a mess with it!

BEAUTIFUL NUTRITION LEMON RINSE GENTLE CLARIFYING TREATMENT

I am too excited to try this out! Mainly because it claims to prevent frizz. We shall see....

HARVEY PRINCE SINCERELY MINI ROLLER
(FULL SIZE)

This was my first time getting a perfume in one of these boxes. It has notes of cedarwood, freesia and orange flower. It smells okay. I do like it but it probably wouldn't be my first choice if I were actually out looking to buy a new perfume.

BELLAPIERRE SHIMMER POWDER IN SNOWFLAKE
(FULL SIZE)

It says this shimmer is meant for "strobing" but I don't know how to do that so I guess i'll be experimenting with this one!

BE A BOMBSHELL COSMETICS EYE CRAYON
(FULL SIZE)

I've never used an eye crayon before. (I'm not very experienced with makeup am I?) This is such a pretty shade too!

3 full sized items isn't too bad! Can't wait to test them out.

Motivational Monday | Goals

YES.
I have all of these things I need to do, want to do. But for some reason I just keep pushing them aside. Why? I don't know. It seems like I just keep living day to day doing nothing productive. Yet I have all of these things I need to do. My mind feels bored but i'm the only one with the power to change that. Why do we allow ourselves to fall into slumps? I need goals. I need to motivate myself to live a more full and productive life.

This post is all over the place but that's how I feel right now. All over the place.

I'm going to be late for work! (perhaps I should make it a goal to wake up earlier for work...ha)

HAPPY MONDAY

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS?

Tell Me Something Tag

Found this tag on another blog. Thought I would do it!

1.WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ITEM OF CLOTHING?

This fox shirt! I seriously wear it all the time. I find I do that quite often when it comes to new clothes. I'll wear the crap out of something and then just completely forget about it.

2. WHAT ARE YOUR BIGGEST OBSESSIONS?
Collecting Disney movies & essie nail polishes. That's probably it right now. I'm sure i'll be adding PLL to this list once the newest season gets added to Netflix!

3. WHO INSPIRES YOU?
I hate questions like this because I honestly never know what to write. I'm sure there are many people who inspire me like my mom or someone else in my life but I don't know. I just never really feel inspired by anyone I guess!

4. WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE DESIGNER AND WHY?
I'm not sure I even have a favorite designer!

5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG EVER?
Oh my there's so many! Too many. Off the top of my head i'd have to go with Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

6. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG RIGHT NOW?
Well the same as my favorite song ever?

7. IF YOU WERE A SWEET TREAT WHAT WOULD YOU BE?
Hmm probably a Wunderbar or an Eatmore bar! Just because they're my faves and if I ever got really hungry I could just take a nibble.....who needs 10 fingers.

8. RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, INDIGO AND VIOLET- WHAT WORDS WOULD DESCRIBE YOUR RAINBOW?
Blistex, dinosaur candy, sunflowers, a 68 impala, the ocean, i'll have to get back to you on indigo and violet!

9. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE FILM?
The Notebook, Grind, Clueless- SO MANY!

10. WHO'S YOUR FAVOURITE ACTOR?
Jared Leto

11. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW, WHERE WOULD YOU BE?
Hawaii, definitely.

12. WHAT ARE YOUR 3 FAVOURITE SMELLS?
Vera Wang Princess, the ocean and campfires.

13. WHAT ARE YOUR 3 FAVOURITE TASTES?
Chocolate, cheese and butter.

14. WHAT IS YOUR MOST TREASURED POSSESSION?
Right now it would be my Kim Coates and Theo Rossi autographs which I got last week! It used to be a necklace my mom gave me years ago. It was a little Gemini pendant. She found it walking home from school one day when she was about 12 and she kept it for years for no reason really. And then she had me and I just happened to be a Gemini. I still get sick at the fact that i've now lost it :(

15. WHAT DID YOU ALWAYS WANT TO BE/DO WHEN YOU GREW UP?
Well when I was really young I wanted to be a vet. Then I found out I was allergic to anything with fur  so that idea went out the window. After that I just wanted to own my own business- which i'm still currently working towards :)

16. IF YOU WERE AN ICE CREAM- WHAT FLAVOUR WOULD YOU BE?
Heavenly Hash

17. IF SOMEONE MADE A SHORT FILM OF YOUR LIFE, WHO WOULD PLAY YOU?
I think it'd be cool to have someone like Ellen Page play me!

18. WHAT WOULD YOUR PERFECT AFTERNOON CONSIST OF?
Sitting on a warm beach with a cool breeze blowing the fresh salty sea air towards me. Heading to Harbour Fish'n'Fries afterwards for an amazing lobster roll. Taking the long way home and not feeling carsick after being in the car for so long!

19. IF YOU WERE A FLOWER, WHAT WOULD YOU BE?
I'd like to be a lily please :)

20. TELL ME A RANDOM THING....BE IT YOUR FAVOURITE LINE FROM A SONG, A SCENE FROM A MOVIE OR QUOTE FROM A BOOK....TELL ME ABOUT SOMETHING YOU LOVE...
A quote i've only discovered recently..."I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious" by Albert Einstein. I can really relate to that.

I'm going to tag 3 lovely bloggers to do this tag!

Natalie from Petal Poppet Blogs
Amanda from Amanda Gouthro
Kendra from STNKRBUG

If you do this tag, leave your link in the comments so I can check it out! :)

Movies That Turn On The Waterworks.

I barely ever cry when it comes to watching sad movies. I'm heartless- I know.
But there have been a few that have made me tear up like a baby....

MY GIRL

This movie.
It gets me every time!! Its a great, fun little movie until BAM! Thomas J just had to go looking for Vada's ring and get stung by bees. I keep it together until that moment when Vada goes down to his funeral- cause ya know, her father runs a funeral home out of their house- and she starts asking where his glasses are, that he can't see without his glasses. Ugh. I just can't.

THE NOTEBOOK

I think anyone who has ever watched The Notebook has cried when Old Allie finally remembers Noah but then forgets him again and starts to freak out. Such a sad moment!

MY SISTER'S KEEPER

Any movie about someone with cancer just tears me apart. A movie about a kid with cancer- I just can't handle that! And for that reason I still to this day have not watched The Fault in Our Stars.

THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS

Beyond sad! The movie is set during World War 2. Bruno makes friends with a young jewish boy who is held in a concentration camp. I don't want to tell the ending in case any of you have not seen this movie yet and want too. Its definitely worth watching.

So that's all I can think of right now. I told you not many have made me cry.

What movie's make you cry every time you watch them?

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation Review

I've had this foundation for a few months now. I absolutely LOVED it when I first purchased it but for some reason I kind of just threw it aside and forgot about it. I wouldn't say its the worlds greatest foundation out there but its really not bad for being such a cheap, drugstore foundation.

The bottle tells us its a transforming liquid-powder foundation that absorbs oil, camouflages imperfections, and delivers a long lasting, velvet finish.

The price of this foundation is super cheap. I think I picked this up for  like $6-$7 at Walmart.

So here's a before and after. Both of these photos were taken next to a window in natural lighting.
On the left (before picture) you can see I have quite a few pimples on my chin. On the right (after picture) you can still obviously see the bumps but the redness is hidden pretty well!

A few things I don't like about this foundation:
It definitely is a liquid-powder. If you have really dry skin I would stay away from this. It picks up on any little patch thats dry! I had a sunburn last week and i'm not sure if you can see it in the picture but my forehead is peeling around my hairline and the foundation just kind of enhanced it! Maybe if you use a good moisturizer beforehand you may not notice it too much.
Also, they don't really have an amazing range of shades to pick from. The one i'm using is 933 Light and I find it to be a little too dark still. Its okay for the summer where i'm a tiny bit darker but I definitely won't be wearing this during the fall/winter.

Other than that I think the pros outweigh the cons:
It gives pretty amazing coverage
Doesn't make me look shiny or oily
Lasts a good portion of the day
They don't test their products on animals
& its cheap!

Let me know if you've ever tried this foundation!
What do you think of it?

Meeting 'Juice' and 'Tig' from Sons Of Anarchy!!

Holy moly. That's all I can say.
You probably don't know this but Sons of Anarchy just so happens to be one of my absolute favorite tv shows.
The character 'Tig' played by Kim Coates just so happens to be my favorite character on the show AND I GOT TO MEET HIM!!! Not only him but Theo Rossi who plays 'Juice' as well!!

There's this huge event that happens every year in Digby, N.S called the Wharf Rat Rally.
Literally, thousands upon thousands of bikers and the like head down there for the weekend. This year two SOA characters were there to sign autographs.

AHH!! I get excited all over again when I look at these pictures! They were honestly so awesome! They took a decent amount of time with each person that wanted autographs and pictures. I even got a hug from both of them!

Here's a picture of part of the rally. They close off the entire downtown area for this weekend long event and this is how the entire place looks. Its so awesome!

This was definitely something i'll never forget!! I've never actually met a celebrity before and now I have met two! From one of my favorite shows no less!

I'm just going to go squeal quietly to myself now...

HAVE YOU EVER HAD THE CHANCE OF MEETING ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTERS?
