Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

You don't know this but I never wear mascara.
I'm actually allergic to it. I only started having reactions to it when I was in the 11th grade. My right eyelid would swell so big and I would have these major headaches.
A quick trip to the doctor and some x-rays later I learned that I have polyps in my nasal area.

Nasal polyps can be found near the sinuses. If they become large enough, they can block the sinuses and nasal airway. You are more likely to develop nasal polyps if you have chronic sinus infections, allergies, asthma, or cystic fibrosis. Symptoms feel like a common cold that persists.

Polyps are just abnormal growths that can be found in any organ that has blood tissues. While the word abnormal is always scary when it comes to growths, polyps are almost always benign.

Anyway, enough of my weird polyps.

I received this mini mascara in a Beauty Box 5 recently. Although i'm quite sure i'll never wear it I still wanted to test it out and tell you guys what I think!

Its quite the bulky little brush isn't it?
Here's a before and after picture...

Yes, I know....my eyebrows are horrendous

I really like this mascara! It definitely lengthens the lashes and has little to no clumping.

It really makes me wish I could wear mascara everyday.

Oh well.

If I were able to wear mascara on a daily, this would probably be it!

Have you ever tried Urban Decay Perversion Mascara?

Blogging Tips | Creating and Inserting Your Own Header

Hey guys! In this Blogging Tips post I wanted to show you how to create and insert your own blog header. You can make these headers as simple or extravagant as you want. So long as you know how!

My choice of photo editor is Photoshop but you can use whichever one you like best.

Once you get used to making headers they'll seem like a breeze! I made this one in about 5 minutes.

Now its not perfect but it'll get the job done!

To add this to your blog. Go to Layout and click Edit on the header section..

Upload your image from your computer and make sure you click ' Instead of title and description.

Click Save

Make sure your image is the size you want it before you upload.

So your new header is on your blog and its looking pretty good.

The only issue now is that its not centred! Here's how to fix that:

Step 1. Click on 'Template' on your blogger page

Step 2. Click on 'Customize' and then click on 'Advanced' in the Blogger Template Designer

Step 3. Scroll down until you see ' Add CSS'

Step 4. Insert this code into the box

 #header-inner {
background-position: center !important;
width: 100% !important;
text-align: center;
}
#header-inner img {
margin: auto;
}

Step 5. Click 'Apply to Blog'

And thats it! Easy peasy right?

If you have any questions about this feel free to ask!
Also, if you're having a little trouble making your own header you can send me an email and I can try to whip something up for you! I'm not a pro at designing them but I can see what I can do :) My email is up there in contact.

Chatty Chat #2 | Favorite Blogs, Vegan, & Layout

Good Morning!
I just felt like writing another little chatty post today. My favorite kind of posts. Anyway there's only 3 things I wanted to cover in this post so here we go.

My 'Favorites' Page. If you take a look up at my menu bar you'll see I have a page for favorites. I keep links to all of my favorite blogs there. I've recently just updated that page and added lots of new amazing blogs. If you like finding new, exciting blogs to read you should take a look at that page. Seriously, do it now.

Being vegan...or not. Last week some time I mentioned that my boyfriend and I decided to try going vegan. We decided this on a Thursday night and by Friday morning we were full blown vegan. I think changing over so quick was a little bit of a mistake. I know lots of people who say they had to slowly transition their way into it. We actually stuck with it for an entire week though which i'm quite proud of. The problem with me is that when it comes to lifestyle changes, I have a really hard time with it. Something as drastic as switching to total vegan overnight was a little too overwhelming for me. Fun Fact: I get overwhelmed very easily and it kind of makes me feel like i'm going insane. I hope that's not just me? So then we decided to stick with vegetarianism but now we may be leaning towards being pescatarians. We have to start out slowly. I know for sure I definitely never want to eat beef, chicken, pork, etc anymore but we'll keep fish in our diets for now until we get a little more used to it. That's not saying I won't be learning more vegan meal options though. I recently bought the Oh She Glows vegan cookbook and i'm in love. Last night we made the avocado potato salad and it was one of the best things i've ever eaten. So yeah, I think I feel a little guilty about not being able to stick with it but i'm hoping over time i'll be able to transition myself over to become full vegan.

New layout. Hah hah. Should I even bother bringing up the fact that i've changed my layout again? Probably not but i'm going to! Mainly because i'm actually kind of proud of this one. I used to always design my blog myself but then I became lazy and started buying pre-made templates. This was becoming kind of pointless and expensive because, well, you guys know how much I change my layout. So I decided I was going to learn how to use different html codes and try to make my blog look like one you'd pay for. I'm not quite there yet but I think its coming along nicely! I've always made my own headers/banners. I really like the simplicity of this one. The little things i've learned so far is the boxes around my sidebar titles, the boxes around my Popular Posts section and that customized search bar on the top right side. I'm trying to find the easiest ways possible to make my blog look at least a little better. I was thinking I could share some of these tips with you guys if you're interested in learning how to do them yourself (instead of paying for someone else's templates!) Just let me know if you'd be interested in that.

So what's been going on with you!? Any changes happening in your life?
Have a great morning! :)

August Beauty Box 5!

It's that time of the month again! BB5 unboxing! I was really excited for this box because I knew it would contain 4 full-size items! Usually you only get one or two. Anyway, let's see what we have!

STARLOOKS LUXE LONGWEAR EYELINER PEN IN PLUM (fullsize)
Tried this out already and I do quite like it! It says the retail price is $19.99 and since its full-sized that means this box has already paid for itself this month!

HASK BEAUTY DEEP CONDITIONING HAIR TREATMENT (fullsize)
I've never used a deep conditioning treatment before so i'm definitely going to be trying this out. It claims to moisturize, revitalize and repair dry damaged hair. We shall see.

DONNAMAX "DID YOU JUST HASHTAG ME?" NAIL FILE (fullsize)
Super cute! This will come in handy.

PUR-LISSE PUR-MOIST HYDRA-BALANCE MOISTURIZER
The only thing that wasn't full size in this box. Your typical face moisturizer. I'll give it a go!

JEROME ALEXANDER HOT STUFF GO POP COMPACT (fullsize)
Very pretty shades of eyeshadow! I don't ever wear eyeshadow but I can experiment with these I think.

I think it goes without saying I am very impressed with this months box! It definitely paid for itself.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE ITEM?

Point Pleasant Park | Halifax

Since about the end of July i've had every Thursday off of work for the rest of the summer. These Thursdays unofficially became mine, my sisters and nieces 'hangout' days. This past Thursday we decided to head into the city and take a walk around Point Pleasant Park.

Point Pleasant Park is a large mostly forested park that a lot of people come to walk around (usually with their dogs). The park was once used to host several artillery batteries which you can still see.

These photos are pretty much all of my niece! I can't help it, she's my favorite little model :)

Look at that cute face!

Hope you all have a wonderful day! xx

The Things I'd Tell My Younger Self

I don't have very many regrets. For the most part i'm okay with what i've done in my life. But there are times when I think things like 'what if I didn't do that, what if I had chosen this instead'. Sometimes you just have days where you wish you could go back and 'guide' your younger self into making different choices. If I had that ability, here's what i'd tell my younger self:

01. TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY
Don't let stress control your eating. Exercise and feel happy! And for the love of god just stop eating dairy now before it gets worse. You know it makes you sick. Just because it tastes good doesn't mean its good for you. Your health is a lot more important than that.

02. DON'T LET SILLY ARGUMENTS RUIN AMAZING FRIENDSHIPS
Yes that's right. You're going to ruin 3 of your best friendships in the future. (Don't worry, you all become friends again but that doesn't happen for many years). Don't let the opinions of others cloud your own judgement. Say you're sorry. Be kind.

03. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE A COURSE YOU REALLY LOVE IN COLLEGE
If not you're going to choose something you really don't want to take. Just for the sake of getting a diploma. This said course will cause stress beyond belief. It will cause stress on you, your relationship, your finances. And you won't even want to find a career in that field once its all said and done. Save yourself thousands of student loan debt and just pick something you truly love. Take business. You've always wanted to take business. Trust your gut for once.

04. TRAVEL
Just do it. Before getting settled in your own place and buying furniture. Before drowning yourself in school and debt. You're always going to want to travel but you won't always have the means to do so. Make sure you do it while you have the chance.

05. NO ONE CARES, STOP BEING SO SHY
Your life would be so much easier if you'd just stop being so darn shy. Get out and meet people! Act silly, wear what you want. You're going to miss so many great opportunities because you're too afraid to talk to people. Honestly, no one around you really cares. People like other people who stand up and talk to them.

06. GET YOUR LICENSE
Seriously, just get them. When you're 16 please. Or else you're going to be 25 before you know it and still don't have them. Only now you've developed some crazy fear of driving and thinking about it makes you anxious. Just get it over with while you're young. It'll save a lot of headache when you're older.

If only you could go back and say these things huh? I wonder how different my life would be if I did choose to do these things from the get go. Guess i'll never know! That's alright though. I'm quite content.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL YOUR YOUNGER SELF?

The Tangled Garden | Grande Pré

Yesterday I told you about us visiting the Grande Pré Winery. On that same day we stopped at a place called The Tangled Garden. This has to be the most beautiful place i've ever been. A couple bought their land about 30 years ago. All that was on that land was a single tree. Now, the whole yard (which is pretty big) has been turned into the most wonderful garden. Walking through you feel like you're in a dream. It truly feels magical.

They make all kinds of jams and jellies from the fruits and herbs grown in their garden. The radiant raspberry jam is to die for! I've been eating it every morning on toast for breakfast since we bought it. Honestly, if you are ever in Nova Scotia for whatever reason, I strongly suggest visiting the tangled garden. You definitely won't be disappointed!

Do you have any gardens like this where you live?

Domaine de Grande Pré Winery | Grande Pré

There are so many wineries down in The Valley here in Nova Scotia and I have never been to a single one in my entire life. Until now that is.

We took a little drive down the valley to visit Domaine de Grande Pré Winery. They have a shop where you can taste test the wine and also purchase things. There's a restaurant on site (which we didn't even bother checking out because i'm sure it would have been way too expensive) and then there's the vineyard.

We had a lovely time just wandering around the grounds. We actually paid for a tour which was supposed to start at five o'clock but five o'clock came and went and by five-thirty we decided to just leave. (We already saw everything from the tour anyways).

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO A WINERY/VINEYARD?
