I'll still be posting other things throughout the month too. Heres the list in case you'd like to save it and do the challenge!

So i'll start that tomorrow. Happy Halloween by the way! I have the day off of work so im taking my niece trick or treating with my sister and mother.

My Top 5 Dairy Free Snacks!

Today I wanted to share my favorite dairy free snacks!
I've been "mostly" dairy free since April. I say "mostly" because I will have something the odd time with dairy in it. I didn't choose to become dairy free just because I didn't want to eat dairy anymore. I love dairy to be honest! I decided to stop eating it because it makes me physically sick. Im not lactose intolerant or even allergic to it. My body just can't digest the milk protein properly. I end up with extreme stomach aches along with gas and usually end up in the bathroom the entire night.
So here's some great dairy free snacks I love!

1- Hummus and pita bread.

Hummus is delicious! My favorite is the roasted red pepper. I don't really eat it with anything other then pita bread. Always check your bread though because sometimes it can be made with milk!

2- Dark chocolate almonds.

These are a great quick snack. Again, always check the ingredients because a lot of dark chocolate still has milk in it. I  buy these from Walmart.

3- Sorbet

Probably my most favorite snack! Even if I weren't staying away from dairy. Its light and better for you than ice cream! If you haven't tried it before, you should!

4- Snapea Crisps

These are surprisingly delicious and healthy! You can buy a box of 36 of these at Costco for only about 13 dollars.

5- Veggie Straws

I've only just discovered these last week. They're also pretty good!

If you're looking for new dairy free snacks I hope this helped!

We're making chicken soup tonight.
Chicken, carrots, potatoes, turnip, celery, onion, peas, and beans.
Let's hope it turns out okay.

Baptism

This weekend we headed back down to Cape Breton for our newest niece's Baptism. Craig's sister had a new baby a little over two months ago, her name is Isabella.
It was a quick visit. We left Saturday afternoon with Craig's father and came back Sunday afternoon after the ceremony and some lunch. That's about 9 hours of driving altogether in two days!
It was nice though. We got there, played with the baby and the dogs for a bit, I left and spent some time with my grandfather for  a few hours and thats about it.
Craig took lots of pictures at the church but i'm only going to post the one of us two with Isabella.

My Top 5 Tv Shows

I couldn't think of anything to blog about so I have decided to share my absolute favorite tv shows with you!

Number 1- My So-Called Life

Hands down my most favorite show ever. It only ran from 1994-1995. I was only 4 when it aired but luckily for me they used to play re runs on tv when I was about 14 or so. They cancelled it before they had a chance to finish it so you're left wondering what happens next!? However,  the episodes they did make are well worth the watch. This is also where my love for Jared Leto began lol.

Number 2- Raising Hope

Number 3- Californication

Number 4 - Sons of Anarchy

Number 5- Suburgatory

Thats my top five favorites! Most of these can be found on Netflix right now if you're interested in maybe seeing some of these. Californication and Sons of Anarchy are better suited for an older audience.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is Thanksgiving day in Canada! It falls on the second Monday of October. This will be our second day of turkey dinners. Last night we went to Craig's fathers and today we are having it here.
A few things I am thankful for this year include my family, Craig and his family, my job, and just being healthy!

Have a great day!

NuMe In-Vogue Flat Iron Review

Today i'm reviewing the NuMe In Vogue flat iron with titanium plates.
I've read a lot of great reviews on this iron (which is why I decided to go ahead and purchase it) but I have to say…my experience was not the greatest.

Now, I was in need of a new straightener and I always wanted to try a NuMe one because I I had heard good things about them but I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a straightener that I had to order online.

A few weeks ago I was watching a missglamorazzi video on youtube and she was using a NuMe curling wand. She then offered a discount code for anything on the entire site. So I went on the site just to look and I found this straightener. Its normally $179.00. I really wanted it so Craig offered to buy it for me for Christmas. I was so excited we ordered it within minutes. Using the code from Ingrid he only had to pay around $93.00 for it!

It arrived quickly, about a week or so, but I wasn't going to open it until Christmas. Yesterday though we were going to Craig's fathers for thanksgiving dinner and I asked if I could try it out and he said sure!

Now for the review part….

I turned it on and set the temperature. The digital piece on the iron is blue at first and once it heats to where you set it, it turns green. This happened rather quickly which was great. The problem happened once I tried to straighten the first section of my hair. The SECOND I touched any part of my hair the temperature would go down. I mean drop. From 400 degrees to as low as 340. In one swipe! The worst part was, was that my hair is rather thick so I had to go over it at least 4 times and each time the temp went lower and lower.

As if that wasn't bad enough the plates of the iron kept pulling my hair with every swipe! By the time I actually finished my whole head my hair felt so dry, it was extremely tangly even after brushing, and little pieces of my hair kept falling out!

I was so disappointed in this iron I went on the site to look at the refund policy and guess what? Absolutely NO refunds IF you used a coupon code or any sort of discount code. Isn't that great.

They do offer an exchange instead of a refund but to be quite honest I don't even want to waste my time getting another one.

That was my experience with this flat iron. I have read other reviews where people said they loved it. Maybe I just received a defective one.

Thanks for reading!

My first haul!

I didn't picture myself doing haul posts but I recently went shopping and I thought why not? I enjoy looking at other peoples hauls so hopefully someone will enjoy looking at mine!
Most of the things I have are from a store called Ardene. I have never shopped here before because I always thought it was a store for teeny boppers. Like 12-13 age group. I went with my sister last week to have my niece's ears pierced and I actually liked a few things I saw in there!

Something I needed desperately were flats. I got these two pairs for $20.00! I'll admit they aren't the best quality but they'll do. Also the prints inside are really cute.

I found these two shirts on a rack that was 2 for $20 also!

$14.50 for this one

$2.90!

$7.50

I also found a cute pair of jeggings for $34.50

The socks there are adorable! I got these 3 pairs for only $10.00

Lastly I purchased this cute candy skull wallet for only $10.00

The other place we went is called Stitches. I haven't been to this store since I was in High School! We noticed huge signs around the store that said everything was $10 or less so we went in.

I ended up just getting a pair of super comfy lounging pants and a nice pair of jeggings for $10.00 each.

Well theres my first haul post! Hopefully it wasn't too bad. I'm pretty sure Ardene is a Canadian company but this is the website if you're interested in anything here.

Nights of Gore

October is my absolute favourite month. The colors, sweater weather, Halloween and all the scary events that take place during this month. This Saturday night after the birthday party we (Craig, my cousin Miranda and myself) went to Gore. A small community about 45 minutes from where we live. The place we went was called Nights of Gore. It was a haunted corn maze that also had a haunted house within the maze.
All I can say is that it was amazing!  I haven't had that much fun in a long time. The path wasn't very big through the corn stalks so you had to walk single file. We ended up forming a chain and held hands through the whole thing lol
People hid in the stalks and jumped out at you and some followed you for a few seconds. There were people with chainsaws and one freaky clown.
I can't wait to go again next year!

The guy who owns the land and puts on the haunted maze is Emmett Blois. He was in Big Brother Canada 1....so of course we needed a picture :p

Valentines Day 2008 :)

Delicious Shortbreads

Tomorrow is our niece's 2nd birthday! I wanted to make some cookies for her birthday so I needed a recipe without eggs or milk. She's allergic to eggs and I can't have milk. So heres the recipe I followed that doesn't contain either!

What you need:
1 cup softened butter ( I use Becel Vegan Margarine since regular butter and margarine contain milk)
3/4 cup of powdered/icing sugar
1 and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups of all purpose flour

Cream butter, sugar, vanilla and salt in a bowl until smooth

Gradually add flour and mix on low until its all combined smoothly. Add the flour in little bits at a time because if you add the flour all at once your dough turns incredibly crumbly.

This is how it should look once all the flour is in

On wax paper pat out your dough until its about 1/4 inch in thickness and then carefully place the dough in the fridge or freezer for about 20 minutes

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Once your dough is cold enough you can use whatever cookie cutters you might have. I used hearts and little flower shapes.

Place in the oven for about 8-9 minutes. While they cook I mixed up my icing. I didn't make it from scratch. I bought the Duncan Hines Buttercream flavour ( which surprisingly has no milk) and used pink food coloring.

Wait until they cool and put whichever designs you'd like on them. This batch made about 18 cookies. The heart shapes were kind of big though so you might be able to get more with smaller cutters.

Enjoy!
